2005 Award Recipients                                                        Letters From Awards Recipients



Cassandra Flora Averell - Cassandra is a graduate of Howland H.S. (Warren, OH), where she was Valedictorian of her Class; she was also elected to the National Society of H. S. Scholars included in Who’s Who Among H.S. Studentsand was a National Merit Qualifier as well as a recipient of the U.S. Marines Musicianship Award. She has begun her studies at Baldwin Wallace College’s Conservatory of Music (Berea, OH), where she has achieved a GPA of 3.982 in their Honors Program.

Michael Hopponen Bostanzoglou - Michael is a graduate of Lyman H.S. (Longwood, FL), where his musical talent was first discovered. He then overcame serious family and medical challenges to dramatically improve his GPA in his Junior and Senior years, working towards the goal of continuing his education in music. With thecontinued support of his mother and teachers, he applied to several colleges, and was asked to audition by the Alma Materof giants in American music, including Quincy Jones, Branford Marsalisand Melissa Etheridge: theBerkleeCollege of Music in Boston, where he is thriving. 

Andreas Diamantis - Andreas graduated with honors from high school in Athens, Greece where he was born, but is pursuing a career in aviation here in the U.S. and is enrolled in the Bachelor’s Degree Program in Aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach. According to his professors, Andreas’ aptitude and passion for flying are matched only by his dedication to hisstudies: he has already been named to the University’s Honor Roll twice, and has recently made the Dean’s List as well. 

Nicoletta Marie Drilias - Nicoletta Marie graduated first in her Class at Wauwatosa East High School (near Milwaukee, WI) and was Valedictorian at her graduation exercises. While maintaining a perfect four-year “A”-average in courses that included Advanced Placement Calculus, Biology and Chemistry, she also excelled in athletics, and was named a “Scholar-Athlete” on four occasions. NicolettaMarie is attending the University of Wisconsin at Madison and is considering a career in Pharmacy.

Ioanna Georgopoulos - Ioanna graduated 7thin her Class of 513 at Glenbrook North H.S. (Northbrook, IL) after remaining on the Dean’s List for 7 out of 9 quarters and was also selected by the National Honors Society and received a National Merit Commendation. Her activities included sports, Choir, and the Band’s Wind Ensemble. She is now a Biology Major at Northwestern University, where she maintains animpressive GPA, and has been selected for special projects including research on tumor-suppressing genes in Athens, Greece this past summer

Jerry S. Lambrinatos - Jerry graduated with Honors from Niles North H.S. (Skokie, IL) where he also received a Presidential Award from Pres. Clinton in recognition of his academicexcellence. He was also elected to membership in the National Honors Society, and cited as an “Illinois Scholar Athlete.” He matriculated in the School of Engineering at Northwestern University, where is is pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering and was on the Dean’s List in Spring, 2003. Jerry speaks four languages: Greek,Spanish, German and English

Christina P. Moniodis - Tied for 1stin her Class of 568 at Salem H.S. (Canton, MI), Christina was also active in student government and athletics. She has also received numerous honors: Phi Beta Kappa Certificate of Recognition; PresidentialEducation Award; Michigan Merit Award and both District and Metropolis Finalist in the Greek Orthodox Oratorical Festival held by the Metropolis of Detroit. Christina is attending the University ofMichigan’s College of Literature, Science and the Arts at AnnArbor.

Nikolia Kleo Rallis - Nikolia graduated 10thin her Class of 514 and with Highest Honors at Buffalo Grove H.S. (Buffalo Grove, IL). Her recognitions include 4-Year Honor Roll, AP Scholar with Distinction, Illinois State Scholar, National Honor Society, National Merit Commendation, and Finalist in several categories at the Metropolis of Chicago Oratorical Festival. She has alsodedicated herself to those in need through various programs at her parish.Nikolia is attending Northwestern University, Majoring in Education. 

Katherine Rollins - Valedictorian at her graduation with Highest Honors from Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart (Houston, TX), Katherine was also an AP Scholar and recipient ofthe Smith College Book Award, Univ. of Rochester Humanities and Social Sciences Award and the Soc. of Women EngineersCertificate of Merit. She is a competitive swimmer, and an accomplished singer whose experiences include Carnegie Hall and Superbowl XXVIII. Katherine attends Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana.

Afrodite D. Skaouris� - Afroditeis currently a Graduate Student at Northeastern Illinois University, pursuing a Masters Degree in Language Arts -Secondary. This follows a most successful Undergraduate career at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, where she achieved a cumulative GPA of 4.61 and received Honors and graduated with Distinction. While at the University of Illinois, she also studied abroad, including at the Institute for the International Education of Students.
