LETTERS FROM OUR AWARD WINNERS

Argie Maria Lafakis (2007), University of Alabama
My first trip to Chicago was awesome! It was a wonderful feeling to join other students in accepting a grant from the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation. We all had so much in common and I know all of us want to do our best to represent the Foundation so that others can take pride in our heritage as well.

I'd like to thank you, everyone at the Foundation, and the Scholarship Committee for this tremendous honor. Sometimes it gets so hard in class and it seems like medical school is unachievable. But when you know a whole group of people wish you well, it makes you want to go on and do your best. I promise I will not let you down and I will represent the Foundation to the best of my ability.

One day I hope to go to Greece. I want to see how they practice pediatrics there. Maybe someday when I am well trained, I can make a difference there too.

The PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation has really played a major role in my decision to continue pursuing the study of medicine. So from the bottom of my heart, I thank you and all members of the foundation for this needed scholarship. I hope in the future, I can in turn help some other Greek-American achieve a similar dream.

God bless you.
