Hundreds of Supporters Attend Greek Media Club Event Sponsored by the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation
10/25/2011

On Thursday, October 13, 2011 the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation sponsored an event titled "Sports & Education Night. Despite the Chicago rain and wind, over 200 people came out for the exclusive event and enjoyed an entertaining evening. The event served to bring awareness to the Foundation's objective of offering annual scholarships of a quarter of a million dollars to high-achieving Greek American students.

Mr. Chris Tomaras, Founder and Chairman of the Scholarship Foundation addressed the crowd and the importance of the Foundations' efforts - which inspired a surprise announcement from Ms. Staci Stratigakes, Executive Director of the Chicago Public Schools, who pledged to match funds raised for the Foundation. A special guest of the evening was former Buffalo Bills Head Coach Marv Levy, who signed copies of his new book Between the Lies and took photos with fans.  FOX32 "Good Day Chicago" co-host Anna Davlantes was in attendance, as well as many other Greek American media personalities and guests who enjoyed food, wine, and music until midnight.

The awareness event was organized by the Greek Media Club, headed by Terry Poulos and George Bliss who brought attention to the Foundation's fundraising efforts and mission. Event co-hosts included the Hellenic Professional Society of Illinois, EuroCircle Chicago, and DailyFrappe.com, along with co-sponsors George & Patty Loukas of The Cubby Bear Chicago. The event was held at the newly-opened Play18 Chicago, which is the Loop's only upscale indoor golf facility boasting the latest in state-of-the-art golf simulators set in a country club atmosphere. How You Can Help

The sole purpose of the Foundation is to help and encourage deserving students to pursue their dreams through education. The financial commitment of the Foundation is substantial and depends entirely on contributions from the community and friends like you. The scholarships are offered at two levels - $10,000 for recipients selected on the basis of merit and financial need, and $2,500 for those chosen only on the basis of merit and not financial need - for a total of at least $250,000 awarded every single year. Please send your contribution today or visit our website to make your secure donation online. The Foundation can only continue to offer these opportunities with your support.
